Cyber Safety Awareness
A situation could be good or bad, but how you deal with it matters the most, as it is rightly said, "Life Is 10% What Happens To You And 90% How You React To It." A few months ago, one of my close friends became a victim of cyber fraud. He received a call stating he had received a job, and the caller asked him to share some of his details, family photos, etc. Since he had applied through some portals by paying initial charges and was expecting a reply he fell for it and shared the asked details, later he found out that it was a fraud call and he had been duped. Now was the critical time to take immediate corrective action. He reacted calmly to the situation, lodged a complaint, and got a lesson to remember. When I got to know about this, it made me wonder how many such cyber frauds might be happening daily, how many such innocent individuals might be falling prey to such fraudsters, and some of them might even be losing their lifelong savings.
I did some research and realized that the information on the internet is too scattered to find the most relevant information in such a situation of panic is difficult so went up to look for an app that can come to my rescue but to no avail. To my surprise, there was no such app that can educate at the time and guide readers about cyber safety. Since I completed my Computer Engineering I was well aware of the nitty-gritty of developing an app, I was also aware of technical terms related to the cyber world and it was my way of contributing to society by using my knowledge to develop a clutter-free, ad-free app.
To give you a simple analogy consider the pandemic which we witnessed recently. COVID-19 disrupted our lives and left a permanent mark of its existence for generations to know, awareness regarding health skyrocketed and multiple doses of vaccines were the only resort. I am sure that by now you are double vaccinated and probably took a booster dose as well but why did you take so much pain to suffer through the aftereffects of a vaccine? Why did you protect yourself with the shield of masks and sanitizer?
No, it is not that I am not aware of the answer, of course I know the immunity and precaution against exposure to viruses. But if you are smart enough to protect yourself are you also intelligent enough to protect your data? your privacy? In the digital space? This is just the right article to make you aware of the upcoming crisis on your way if you have not already taken the safety measures.
If you think that spam calls or messages are the only forms of cyber crimes and that you are quick to avoid them, you are just half correct. Cybercrime goes much beyond that, these cyber criminals are lurking on the dark web to find just one loophole in your network and break into your devices to misuse your data to their advantage. Identity theft, privacy leaks, monetary fraud, and phishing are some of the many cyber crimes you might get exposed to.
With the ever-advancing technology, not using it just because of fear is not right, but you must accept the harsh reality that besides cybercrime, cyberbullying has also started spreading its roots among teens who scum to peer pressure, bullying on social media or gaming platforms is a thing to be careful about, and if you or any of your close ones witness anything like these don’t shun back from raising your voice due to fear. There are people genuine enough to hear you, and there are firms to help you out. Just take a strong stand for yourself and pull yourself out of such unfortunate situations, "YOU HAVE THE POWER."
"Cyber Safety Awareness" is the most accessible destination to find answers to your concerns. This app was developed keeping cyber safety and its importance in mind. This app is free of any distracting advertisements and is built to contribute to society as a responsible and aware individual. The lack of such an app that can elucidate readers about various aspects of cyber crimes, their countermeasures, and safety tips and that too caters to the needs of every individual, be it a parent, senior citizen, woman, employee, or just an inquisitive reader, was the main motivation behind creating it. If you spend a few minutes reading articles on the freely available PlayStore App, you are bound to learn something new. The easy-to-use functionality and to-the-point content make it easy to understand as compared to searching for it and then validating whether the content is authentic or not. In our efforts to create awareness and reach every corner, we are planning to collaborate with "Wara Foundation", which is an NGO aiming to uplift the underprivileged.
Check out Cyber Safety Awareness amazing app and don’t forget to share it with the ones you care for.
This is a cyber safety guide cum education mobile app, so there is no revenue generation associated with this mobile app and it is a conscious effort to contribute to society in my way. To summarize, a quote from Jeh Johnson, "Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and it boils down to this: in Cybersecurity, the more systems we secure, the more secure we all are". One compromised computer is all that is necessary to possibly infect hundreds, or perhaps millions of others. Everyone should practice fundamental cybersecurity best practices to increase their personal and overall online safety. Cyber vaccinate yourself with genuine content and create a safe digital space. Share cyber safety awareness if you care about your family, friends, and society.
